Fellows recently participated in an inspiring Brown Bag Series hosted by the Office of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), where they gained valuable insights into the role of sustainable development in shaping governance and public service delivery across Lagos State.

The session was hosted by the Special Adviser, Dr. Oreoluwa Finnih, alongside the Permanent Secretary and members of the SDGs team. Discussions focused on the mandate of the Office, the Sustainable Development Goals, and the strategic alignment of the goals with the priorities of the Lagos State Government and its Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).

Participants explored how the SDGs serve as a framework for driving measurable development outcomes, strengthening institutional collaboration, and promoting inclusive growth across communities. The engagement also highlighted the importance of awareness creation, stakeholder engagement, and coordinated action in advancing sustainable development objectives.

Speaking during the session, Dr. Finnih emphasized the need for intentional collaboration and alignment among institutions to ensure that development efforts translate into meaningful and lasting impact for citizens.

The session further broadened Fellows’ understanding of sustainable development as a collective responsibility, reinforcing the importance of leadership, policy coherence, and strategic partnerships in building resilient and thriving communities.

Delivering the vote of thanks, by fellow Stephen Awolola, who expressed appreciation to Dr. Finnih, the Permanent Secretary, and the SDGs team for sharing their expertise and providing Fellows with deeper insights into the structures and strategies driving sustainable development across Lagos State.
