In its continued effort to cultivate reflective and resilient leaders, the Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy (LJLA) hosted another edition of its Brown Bag Series with the Executive Secretary, Mrs. Ayisat Agbaje-Okunade. The engaging session, held in Ikeja GRA, brought together Fellows for a thought-provoking conversation on leadership, resilience, and the discipline of personal growth.

Drawing from her own leadership journey, Mrs. Agbaje-Okunade spoke about the realities of navigating uncertainty, the importance of self-awareness, and the courage to persist through moments of doubt. She encouraged the Fellows to see challenges not as deterrents but as opportunities for reinvention and clarity of purpose.

“Make the most of your waiting seasons. When your moment arrives, strike with precision: focused, undistracted, and prepared” Her words underscored the value of preparation, patience, and perspective in building lasting leadership capacity.

The Executive Secretary further reflected on the misconception that leadership is measured only by success, noting instead that the true test of leadership lies in one’s ability to grow through adversity.

“True leadership requires patience, self-awareness and the courage to grow through every experience” she added.

The interactive exchange created space for introspection and dialogue, as Fellows discussed how resilience and purpose shape their leadership philosophies. Many described the session as both grounding and transformative, offering practical takeaways for their professional and personal lives.

Delivering the vote of thanks, Fellow Anuoluwapo Adebanjo expressed the cohort’s appreciation to the Executive Secretary for her openness and depth. “We are inspired by the authenticity and strength she shared with us today. Her message has reminded us that leadership is a continuous process of becoming, one that demands intentionality, courage, and grace” she added.

The Brown Bag Series remains a cornerstone of the LJLA experience, providing a platform for mentorship, peer learning, and leadership reflection. Through such engagements, the Academy continues to advance its mission of grooming visionary leaders committed to driving impact across Lagos and beyond.
