Our Fellows participated in a strategic Brown Bag Session with the Lagos State Ministry of Establishments and Training, where discussions centered on the critical role of human capital development in strengthening public institutions and enhancing service delivery.

The session was led by the Honourable Commissioner for Establishments and Training, Mr. Afolabi Ayantayo, alongside the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Olubusola Abiadakun, and Directors of the Ministry.

Drawing from the Ministry’s mandate, Ayantayo shared insights into the importance of continuous learning, workforce development, and institutional capacity building in driving effective governance. He emphasized that the strength of any public institution lies in the quality, competence, and preparedness of its workforce.

Fellows explored how strategic investments in people, skills development, and knowledge management contribute to a more responsive and efficient public sector. Discussions also focused on the need for government institutions to remain adaptable in the face of evolving governance challenges and emerging societal needs.

The session further highlighted the importance of identifying skills gaps, fostering professional development, and creating systems that support innovation, accountability, and long-term institutional growth.

By the end of the engagement, Fellows gained a deeper understanding of how human capital development serves as a foundation for effective leadership, improved public service delivery, and sustainable impact across the public sector.
