The Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy (LJLA) is a notable agency dedicated to grooming and empowering exceptional individuals with the passion and potential to shape Nigeria’s future. Established in honour of the enduring legacy of Alhaji Lateef Kayode Jakande, Lagos State’s first civilian governor, LJLA is committed to preparing change-driven individuals by equipping them with technical expertise and a strong foundation in integrity, innovation, and public service.
At the heart of LJLA is a mission to create a pipeline of leaders equipped to tackle complex societal challenges and drive impactful change across diverse sectors.
Through its rigorous one-year fellowship program, the Academy offers merit-based opportunities for young professionals to immerse themselves in state governance, policy formulation, and leadership ethics. This holistic approach integrates practical experiences, mentorship from seasoned professionals, and exposure to real-world governance challenges, fostering critical thinking, ethical decision-making, and resilience.

A significant milestone in the Academy’s journey was the signing of the Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy Bill into law, formally institutionalising the Academy and reinforcing its mandate to nurture a generation of leaders dedicated to public service and transformative governance.
